Tuesday, December 5, 2023

1.  There will be a brief meeting after school in Room 104 today for football players in Grades 9-11 to sign up for Salvation Army bell ringing.  Please see Coach Hohler if you have any questions.

2.  TLC is teaming up to support the Chemo Care Package campaign, organized by former Huron High School sisters Abi and Hannah Miller. Items can be donated through December 15th. Please bring in new items to your 5th period class for the kids who are battling cancer at Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. The winning 5th period class will be given a reward after Christmas break!

3.  Woodlands and McCormicks ROX programs are having a coat drive that runs through December 18th.  Please consider donating gently used or new coats.  The donation box is located outside the high school office.

Monday, September 18, 2023

1.  Homecoming tickets will be on sale during lunch this week.  All tickets are $10.  Remember if you are bringing a guest from another school, there is  paperwork to be filled out and that needs to be turned in when you purchase your tickets. Ehove students will be able to buy tickets in the Huron high school office.

3.  Parking passes are still on sale in the high school office.  

4.  Are you looking for community service? 
Knock out 3 hours at the Huron's Crucial Catch game. Ms. Ryan is looking for several people to paint simple tiger paws on children's faces. Everything will be supplied. Show up before the football game and finish after half time. The fundraiser money will be donated to the breast cancer foundation. See Ms Ryan in the Art room ASAP. First ones to sign up will get the spot.

1.  The first Huron PTO 5K Glow Run is coming up this Saturday, September 16, and you won't want to miss it! Registrations are due today 9/13Click HERE to sign up.

  • Glow Party at 8:00 p.m. 
2.  Homecoming Elections have been sent out to your school emails, please vote before 5:30pm today. The Homecoming Court will be announced during the assembly Friday at 7:30am.

Announcements - Thursday, January 7, 2021

1. A reminder to Seniors that Community Service hours are due at the end of first semester, Friday, January 15.  Please turn these into the high school office.

2.  For any student who wants a paper copy of the exam schedule stop by the high school office.

3.  Girls who plan on playing softball this year there will be a mandatory meeting Sunday, January 10th at 10:00am in Woodlands school gym.  Please make sure everyone wears their mask and social distancing will be enforced during the meeting.

4.  Any boy tennis player who is interested in going to open courts with the girls team at Court 1 (the old Baywinds) please contact the girls head coach Taylor Gosser at 419-577-7075 for more information.

5.  The Huron Public Library is still closed to the public, but that doesn't mean you have to go without.  Grab some DVD's, CDs or books at the Huron Public Library through Curbside Pickup!  Visit our website to learn how you can place items on hold and schedule your own pickup time.
Share your art with the digital world this winter in our Online Community Art Gallery!  Send us pictures of your artworks or photographs and then revisit the virtual Gallery throughout the Winter to find new additions. All ages can participate.  Visit our website to learn how to submit your art.
Spread kindness in 2021 and start the new year off right by participating in the Library's Kindness Campaign.  Through Friday, January 8, we will be sharing kind ideas from our Teen Library Council.  Follow the Library on social media for activities and challenges that you can do throughout the day and then share how you are spreading kindness in 2021.  All ages can participate.

Announcements - Tuesday, December 22, 2020

1.  All students who were enrolled in Fall CCP classes need to return their books by the end of today.

2.   Sophomores and Juniors interested in taking the PSAT's on January 26th please stop by the counseling office to secure your spot. The cost of the test is $17.00. Please bring your payment when you sign up.

3.  Grab some materials from the Huron Public Library through our Curbside Pickup!  Place items on hold, get a notification when your items are in, then give the Library a call to schedule a pickup time - it's that easy!  Visit huronlibrary.org for step-by-step directions or for more information.

Remember the Library will be closed on December 24 and December 25 for Christmas and December 31 and January 1 for New Year's.

Share your artwork with the Huron Community this winter in our virtual Art Gallery!  Share pictures of your artworks or photographs and then revisit the virtual Gallery throughout the Winter to find new additions.  All ages can participate.  Visit our website to learn how to submit your artworks.

Announcements - Monday, 1/28/19

1.  Due to the projected weather this week, auditions for Bye Bye Birdie will be held Monday and Tuesday this week from 3-7 in the choir room. Because of this change, the memorization requirement is now optional. New sign up sheets are available on the choir room doors.

2.  A representative from Terra State Community College will be here Tuesday, 1/29, at 9am.  Please sign up through Naviance if you are interested.

3.  Attention Winter athletes:  All athletic equipment bags can be stored in the officials locker room next to Mr. Camella's office on the first floor.  Any bags found in the hall - will be transferred to this location. 

4.  Seniors your diploma papers are due into the high school office January 31st. 

5.  The College Credit Plus (CCP) Information Night for interested parents and students in grades six through eleven will be held at McCornick Auditorium  on Tuesday, January 29th, at 6:30pm.  David Janik from BGSU Firelands will provide basic information and answer questions regarding the CCP program for the 2019-20 school year.  If parents are unable to attend, another session will be held at BGSU Firelands on Tuesday, February 19th, 6:00pm in
room 163.

6.  New Community Service Opportunity - The "Caddyshack Open" is scheduled for 6/24/19.  Stop into the Counseling office for more information and registration forms.

7.  Lunch today is nachos grande or fiesta sticks.

Announcements - Thursday, 1/17/19

1.  Both Huron Bowling squads had convincing victories against Lakota Tuesday. Nick Pack and Anthony Drivas led the boy's team with series totals of 385 and 377 respectively. On the girls side, Blair Porter led the team with a new personal best series 369 followed by Lindsey Steinmetz with a 323 series. Blair Petee also had a new personal best series of 269. Bowlers are back in action against conference leader Edison tonight.
 

2.  Attention: All High School Students

The Huron Tiger Core Value Scholars Program is a new initiative of the Huron City Schools and Coca-Cola Consolidated. The purpose is to recognize students that show exemplary behavior in the core value chosen for the month. This month’s core value is: Honesty. The top 5 nominees chose by HHS staff members will receive a t-shirt while the top vote getter will receive a family-pack of Cedar Point Tickets good for any date this summer. The contest will reset each month with a new core value. Ask your teachers for more information or stop by the main office. 


3.  Reminder to students and parents that grade cards will be handed out Friday during first period.  Please remember if you owe fees, fines etc. your grade card may be withheld.

Last day to change second semester classes is today!

5.  Attention seniors - Counselors will be going into English classes on Jan. 25th to hand out the local scholarship packets along with a copy of your transcript. Please stop into the Counseling office with questions and if you are not here during those class times.


6.  Saturday, January 19, the Huron Public Library will be hosting a Scrabble Tournament open to grades 7 and up. Registration is required.

7.  Lunch today is bosco pizza sticks or pizza calzone.

3.  Congratulations to Huron High School's first ever Speech and Debate competitors.  The team of Stephen Demos and Ronnie Eytchison placed 5th in the Policy and Debate category this weekend at Edison High School.

4.  The American Legion Americanism & Government Test will be given this Thursday during 6th Period.  Any interested student should see Mrs. Merckens by Wednesday to sign up and to receive a helpful study guide.


5.  Wrestling mat moving scheduled for today has been moved to tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5pm.
6.  Sign ups for Huron Ski club will take place during lunches today.

7.  A representative from the U.S. Army will be here today during lunch periods

8.  Den Time meeting has been moved to Monday, 11/13, after school in the cafeteria.

9.  Attention any student interested in joining S.P.A.R.K. which stands for Students Preventing Abuse & Raising Knowledge - applications are available in the Counseling Office.  This organization is a youth coalition that has a mission to reduce the number of Erie County youth and adults who are involved in substance abuse and other high risk activities. 
10.   The Tiger Union will be closed today and Wednesday periods 2,3 and 4.
