HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - THURSDAY, MAY 4, 2017
1. For any students interested in swimming for junior or senior high next
year, there will be a meeting in the High School cafeteria tonight at 7:30 pm. This meeting is for swimmers and their parents and will last approximately 30 minutes.
2. Tonight the Huron Choir department will be having a fundraiser from 5-9 pm at the Sandusky Chipotle. Please come out and support! Please see Miss Jackson for a flyer or stop by the office.
3. We would like to congratulate the Mavericks Robotics Team on
another great season of innovation and design! The team would like to
thank all the awesome mentors for their many hours of dedication this
year! The team finished the FRC World Championships in St. Louis,
Missouri this past weekend with a ranking of 15th out of 68 teams in their Curie subdivision. The team left
the competition with great new engineering ideas and inspirational community
outreach projects for next year’s robotics season.
4. New scholarship for Seniors:
Bikers Against Abused & Neglected Children - Awarded to
abused or neglected situation or going to school to study in area that
will help children who may have been abused and/or neglected. For more
information and applications, please stop into HHS Counseling office. DEADLINE MAY 13, 2017
5. Bgsu
Firelands students are reminded they must turn their course books into
the high school office once your exams are finished.
6. Next Wednesday (5/10) we will be operating on a three-hour delay for all students who are not in Algebra One or Geometry.
7. Tickets for prom will be on sale this week during
the lunch periods. Ticket are $30 for a single and $50 for a couple.
Afterprom cost is included in the cost.
All juniors and seniors interested in attending the afterprom must
submit a waiver form signed by your parents. Forms should be submitted
when purchasing tickets. Forms are available in the office or with Mrs.
Sadowski.
8. Seniors if you have any pictures you want included in the senior video please send them to Brittany Rowen asap. Also, Friday, May 5th
all seniors need to wear red or white as we are filimig the ending of the senior video. See Brittany Rowen with
any questions.
9. Students currently in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in YES, a 4-day 3-night service retreat June 7-10, in which students paint houses for families in need in Huron and Sandusky. Cost is $50. The registration deadline is May 15th. Registration forms are available in the office.
10. Big Brothers Big Sisters will be going to Woodlands and Shawnee today..
11. Attention all Freshmen-Juniors. We will be running a semester long ACT
Prep class next year. If you are interested, please sign up in the
Counseling Office asap.
12. Attention
underclassmen, Buckeye Broadband is looking for students who are
planning to major in broadcast journalism to help with their single
camera events. These single camera events involve going out to schools
and communities with a BCSN Erie camera person to conduct interviews on
activities that they cover. See Mrs. Fahr for more information.

13. After-Hours Event is this Friday at the Huron Public Library from 6 pm - midnight. Members must pick up a permission slip at the Adult Desk at the Library, and RSVP to Ms Carol by Thursday. Our theme is Cinco de Mayo!
Free Comic Book Day at the Library is Saturday, May 6 for all ages. The day-long event will continue while supplies last.
Chapter Chat meets Monday, May 8 at 2:30 pm in the Tiger Union to talk about
Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Please sign up through the Library to get your copy and attend.
14. Attention students and staff who haven't already ordered a 2016-2017 yearbook. The deadline to order a yearbook is Friday, May 19. Either order one online by visiting jostensyearbooks.com, or bring a check in to Mrs. Lee, made out to Huron High School, for $65.
15. All students who applied for the Sandusky Elks Student of the Month are invited to their annual dinner Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30 p.m.,
where two scholarship awards will be announced. Student tickets are
free and additional tickets are $8.00 each. Checks need to be made out to the Sandusky Elks. Please see Mrs. Smith in the
counseling office for tickets.
16. Petitions for all other Student Council positions are now available in the high school office.
17. Lunch today is philly steak & cheese sandwich.
