HURON HIGH SCHOOL
1. The Huron Tiger swimmers and divers were in action this weekend at the
12 team Subway Oak Harbor Invitational. This meet featured some of the
top teams from Northwest Ohio. Scoring points for the Tigers were Cassie
Battiste, Hannah Blackwell, Emma Golling, Anna Martello, Morgan Morey,
and Elizabeth Mast for the girls while Elijah Hart, Riki Tanaka, Nick
Swope, Derrick Griffin, Ronnie Eytchison, Rowan Roshon, Caleb Wittey,
Zack Baker, Marc Dieter, Max Hardy, Graham Schwartz and Jacob Fries
scored points for the boys. The Tigers have a dual meet tonight at Margaretta then travel to Port Clinton on Saturday for the new look 10 team SBC Championships.
2. Attention all Seniors who are 17 and older and in good standing: You
may apply to work at the polls for the upcoming Ohio Primary election on
Tuesday, March 15. Applications are available in room 206 and are due back by to Mrs. Merckens by Friday, January 22.
3. Huron Rotary's Interact Club is accepting membership applications.
The Interact Club is trying to better the world through community and
global projects. If you are interested in joining, please pick up an
application form in the office or contact Grace Moser for more
information. The forms are due back to the office by January 19, 2016.
4. Attention all students who are planning on going to EHOVE next year: If
you missed your EHOVE field trip, have additional questions, or would
like to participate in the Shadow Day, please see Mrs. Fahr in the
Guidance Office. EHOVE Shadow Day is Jan. 26th.
5. Attention all SENIORS who are working towards the Diploma of
Distinction: You must have 50 hours of documented and approved community
service turned in to Mr. Munafo NO LATER THAN THE LAST DAY OF 1st
SEMESTER (JAN.15th). For Seniors, no community service hours will be accepted after this deadline.
6. Attention all students interested in applying to EHOVE: The deadline to apply for 1st round applications is Feb. 5th. Please make sure to submit your application online today at www.ehove.net if you are interested in attending!7. With
the end of the semester quickly approaching, students are reminded to
take care of any school fees, overdue library books/fines, lunch fees,
etc or you grade card may be withheld.
8. OHIO OPERATING ENGINEERS APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINING PROGRAM: Operating
Engineers build roads, bridges, dams, and assist in construction of
large buildings and other structures. Stop into the Guidance office to
learn how you can take advantage of the opportunity to become part of
the Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program and visit their website
at www.local18training.com.

HUTTON JUNIOR FISHERIES BIOLOGY PROGRAM –
Paid Internship opportunity and a $4,000
scholarship award for high school juniors or seniors interested in
learning
more about Environmental and Marine biology issues. More information is

WILLIAM D. SQUIRES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION INC. – Several scholarship awards of $3,000 per year
available to high school seniors with financial need, solid career goals, and a
minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA. More

MINORITY JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP – Award of $1,500 available to a minority high school
senior who plans to pursue a career relevant to the newspaper industry, particularly
journalism, advertising, marketing, or a communications degree program at an
Ohio college or university. Stop

2016.
