Announcements - Wednesday, October 7, 2020

1. Huron girls soccer is having a fundraiser at Chipotle today between 4-8pm.  Tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to Huron Girls Soccer!

2.  Congratulations to both the boys and girls CC teams.  Both teams won the inaugural Huron CC Invitational last Saturday.  Sal Sherer and Jadyn Towns were the champions in each of their races.

Both Jadyn Towns and Kennedy Schlessman earned spots on the CC record board with their performance.  Jadyn ran the fastest time ever by a freshman girl and Kennedy ran the third fastest time for a sophomore girl.  The top 5 times are listed on the record board in the high school cafeteria.   Congratulations to both girls and both teams!

3.  Congratulations to the football team on their undefeated regular season and SBC Championship this week.  Good luck in the upcoming playoffs!

4. Any student who is interested in community service, we are looking for tutors for Huron High School.  Tutoring is during your study hall or at your convenience.  Stop by Ms. Ryan's classroom if you are interested.

5. Boys or girls who are interested in bowling this year, please stop by the high school office for an info sheet that talks about the upcoming season.

6.  Attention all students: the TLC class will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house. Bring your pop tabs into your fifth period class. The class that brings in the most will win a Halloween treat.

7.  If you have a Chrome book checked out from the school, you can stop by the office to get a cover during your study hall.

8.  Attention students:  If you would like to be issued a locker to use before school, before lunch and after dismissal, please come to the main office during your study hall to sign one out.

9.  Parking tags are still on sale in the high school office for $5.  You need to purchase a new one each year.

10.  From the Huron Public Library:
Need a place to study or wait for a ride after school? The Huron Public Library has new Student Study Tables open from 3 - 4 pm and 4 - 5 pm after school. Teens ages 12 - 18 can reserve their own private table in the Library. Visit huronlibrary.org to make a reservation.

Think you are good at TikTok challenges? Teens in Grades 7 - 12 can put your TikTok skills to the test and enter the Teen Monthly TikTok Challenge for a chance to win some cool prizes. Each month, the Library will provide a new theme for your TikTok videos. October's theme is Halloween. Create your best spooooky 10 - 60 second clip and send it to us by the end of the month for a chance to win and be featured on our social media pages! Visit huronlibrary.org for full contest rules.

The Teen Library Council's next meeting via Zoom is on Monday, October 12 at 4 pm. Join the discussion to add your ideas to improve the Library and the Huron community! New members are welcome to join!
