1. Today’s lunch is Chicken Tenders and Pasta.

2. To honor Red Ribbon Week the National Junior Honor Society will include a fact about what Red Ribbon Week is all about. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States.

Today’s fact:
It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985.

3. Reminder: Today you will go to your 2nd quarter elective today.

4. Yesterday, at the junior high state cross country meet, Rylie Towns finished seventh out of 270 runners. Awesome way to end the season!

5. Grade cards will be distributed Friday. Fees need to be paid and overdue library books returned.

6. Student Council is sponsoring a Halloween Costume contest on Monday, October 31st. Prizes will be given for Scariest, Most Detailed, Best Group, Funniest, Most Original and Best Overall. No weapons or face paint permitted.

7. Junior High Basketball Cheer tryouts: Clinics are October 24th and 25th. Tryouts on October 25th at Woodlands from 5:45 – 7:00. Packets are in the office.

8. 7th Grade boys basketball try-outs will be held Monday, October 31st and Tuesday, November 1st from 4:30pm – 6:00pm in the gym. All players must have a current physical on file.

9. 8th Grade boys basketball try-outs will be held Monday, October 31st and Tuesday, November 1st from 3:00pm – 4:30pm in the gym. All players must have current physical in office by try-out date, no exceptions. Any questions see Mr. Demos.

10. 7th and 8th grade girls basketball tryouts will be held Monday, October 31st through Wednesday, November 2nd from 6-7:30pm at McCormick. Players must have a current physical on file.

11. FROM THE HURON PUBLIC LIBRARY:
Check out TEENtober at the Huron Public Library this October! TEENtober is a nationwide celebration of tween and teen programs at the Library. Stop by this week to play the Library's Wii games!

The Teen Library Council is back in the Library building today at 4 pm. Teens in Grades 7 - 12 can share ideas to improve the Library and the community and help out with Library programming for volunteer hours. Visit huronlibrary.org for more details.  

The Library has a NEW Teen Tech Cart filled with cool tech like iPads and Chromebooks for teens in Grades 7 - 12 to borrow. Stop by after school on Wednesday, October 26 any time between 3 - 4:30 pm to try out some new tech like Spheros, Bloxels, digital instruments, sticker-makers, and more! This program will also feature the Library's button-making machine. Come hang out and make some free buttons!

Everyone is welcome to join local chess enthusiast Paul Sherwood for Chess at the Library this Saturday, October 29 starting at 10 am. Come for fun or to improve your game. This program is open to all ages and abilities
