I have been teaching in the Huron School District since 2006. I have taught Kindergarten and am now one of the Title 1 Reading Intervention Specialist at Shawnee Elementary. I have a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Reading. Teaching Title 1 has been very rewarding. I love working with small groups of children, supporting them in becoming successful readers! I am married with two wonderful daughters. Family involvement is very important to me and I encourage parents to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a great year working with wonderful students and their families!
Hi! I have been working in the Huron School District since 1994. My positions included one year in the Lil’ Tigers Preschool, 16 years in second grade, and now the Title 1 Reading Intervention position. I have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, a Bachelor in Early Education K-3, a Reading Endorsement and Early Childhood Special Education certification.
Helping children to learn the wonders of reading has always been a passion of mine. My Title 1 classroom mottos are “Practice makes Perfect” and “Making mistakes is an Opportunity to Learn”.
I live in Vermilion with my husband and two golden retrievers, Echo and Beau-D. When I am not teaching at Shawnee, I am training and showing my own dogs or instructing others about dog training. I have one son, Joshua, who currently lives in Australia.
I look forward to a wonderful year working with all of my Title 1 Students.
