Huron High School
Announcements - Thursday, September 10, 2020

1. Reminder to students who plan on eating a lunch from the school cafeteria:  Please remember to register/order your lunch in the morning.  Please use your QR code.

2.  Attention all artistic students: The Yearbook Club is putting on a cover contest for the 2020-2021 yearbook. This year's theme will be "Living Our Best [covid] Life". The idea behind the theme is that we as a school community are doing everything we can to make the best out of the setbacks and challenges that we have this school year. If interested, please design your interpretation of what it means for the Huron Tigers to be "living our best life" this year. The winning design will appear on the cover of the 2020-2021 yearbook, and the winner will receive a free yearbook. Designs are due to Mrs. Lee by Friday, September 25.

3.  The SBC ticket voucher policy or method for away games is strictly pre-sale. Oak Harbor allows 2 per roster player. There will be no general admission tickets sold at their gate.

Any parent, or family member that attends the game must have a pre-sale ticket that was purchased at Huron High School. The cost of the ticket is $5.
Today tickets will be on sale in the office from 7:30 am till 2:30 pm, then the point of sale will move to the Visitors side ticket booth at the stadium where they can be purchased from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Parents/family members can pull up, walk up to the ticket window, purchase their ticket and be on their way. Not quite a drive-thru window but I'm hoping this will offer some convenience. Copies of the attached Rosters will be at the office and ticket booth. The buyer will be asked for their name and once they purchase the ticket we cross off that name.

4.  Attention NHS members:  There will be a brief NHS meeting on Monday, 9/14, at
11 a.m.  The meeting will be over Zoom.  A zoom join code will be sent out on Remind.  If you are not connected to Remind, stop by Mrs. Arambula's classroom to pick up the Remind code.

5.  Attention seniors in good standing: You can apply to work the polls for Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.  If accepted, you would work a full day and need to miss school and activities. However, you would make $115 for your training and work time.  Please see Mrs. Merckens in room 214 for more information and an application.

6.  Students who dismiss before 2:30:  Once you sign out at the main office, you must exit through the main door.  Classes are taking place in the Union and are not to be disturbed.  Thank you for your cooperation.

7. Please stop by outside the high school office and pick up paperwork if you are going to be needing a parking pass for this school year.  Every year you need to purchase a new car tag if you are going to be in the building more than 1 period a day. Tags are $5.

8. Ripcho Studio will be at HHS to photograph underclassmen (grades 9-11) on Friday, September 18th, for the "gray" group and then returning on Thursday, September 24th, for the "red" group.  Your first period teacher will be handing out picture order forms.  Extras will be available in the high school office.

For those attending Virtual Academy, you may come in either day to have your picture taken.  Please be sure to wear a mask in the building.

9. The Huron Public Library is currently closed to the public, but we are offering Curbside Pickup. Visit our website to order books, DVDs, or CDs and then drive or walk by the Library to pick them up.

Teens in Grades 7 - 12 put your TikTok skills to the test and enter the Library's Teen Monthly TikTok Challenge. Each month, the Library will provide a new theme for your TikTok videos. September's theme is pirates (ARGHHHH). Create a unique 10 - 60 second clip and send it to us by the end of the month for a chance to win prizes and be featured on our social media pages! Visit huronlibrary.org for more details.

The Teen Library Council is still meeting via Zoom to discuss ideas to improve the Library and the community for teens! The next TLC meeting is on Monday, September 21 at 4 pm on Zoom. New members are welcome to join with a simple application!

For more information about any of these programs, or to learn how to join, visit the Library's website at huronlibrary.org or follow the Library on Facebook and Instagram!
