Announcements - Tuesday, 10/15/19

1.  Jostens will be here Thursday, October 17, to meet with Seniors regarding the ordering of graduation caps, gowns, announcements, etc.  Seniors please meet in the gym at the ringing of the bell (7:25am) Thursday morning.

2.  The following students were nominated for the Huron Tiger Core Value of Accountability for September:  Chloe Pfeiffer, Kayla Walsh, Layne Gimperling, and Indira Stefano.  All nominees should stop by the office and pick up their t-shirt.  September's core value winner was Kayla Walsh.  Enjoy your Cedar Point tickets.  Congratulations to all! 

October's core value is consistency.   If you always put forth your best effort and are reliable, you could be this month's nominee!

3.  There will be cheer try-outs for basketball season for those interested on Tuesday, October 29 through Thursday, October 31.  Tryouts will be held at Shawnee Elementary.  Cheer packets will be available for pick up in the high school office starting on October 21.  All forms must be completed prior to tryouts.

4.  St. Peter School is hosting their annual Spooktacular 5K Pumpkin Fun Run on Saturday, October 26th.  Registration papers are available in the high school office if you'd like to participate. They are also looking for volunteers to help out the morning of the race.  Volunteers are needed between 8am-11am.  Interested students should email [email protected] or phone or text 419-366-1563.

5.  Senior parents:  We will be having a senior meeting in the Tiger Union during Parent/Teacher conferences on October 17th at 6:00pm.  Ms. Kukay will be going over the senior year timeline and Mrs. Smith will be talking about the College Application process.  Hope to see you there!


6.  BGSU will be offering Financial Aid informational meetings which are open to all students and parents:
TONIGHT - BGSU Firelands Cedar Point Center Auditorium 6:00pm
Thursday, Oct. 17 - Port Clinton High School Performing Arts Center 6:00pm
Tuesday, Oct. 22 - Vermilion High School Auditorium 6:30pm
Wednesday, Oct. 30 - Bellevue High School Cafeteria 6:00pm

7.  Seniors be sure you are logging into your Naviance account when applying to any college/university.  If you use the Common App and you need help matching it to Naviance, please stop into the Counseling office.  Using Naviance ensures all necessary documents (transcripts, letters of recommendation, counselor forms, etc) are submitted electronically and at one time.

8.  The following colleges will be visiting Huron High School in the near future.

University of Cincinnati, Tuesday, 11/5, 9:00am

9.  October is Teen Celebration Month at the Huron Public Library! In honor of this celebration, teens can check out a new activity each week after school in the YA area of the Library. The third week of October features Nostalgic Cartoons. Stop by after school to catch up on some old shows that you wish were still on TV!
 

Tuesday, October 15 is another Library Life Hack Challenge! At 3:30 in the YA area, teens can come to the Library to watch some videos of common life hacks and then try them out in real life to see if they actually work.

If strategy and thought is more your style, come to our Chess meeting on Tuesday, October 15 from 6 - 7:30 pm. Join a master chess player to learn the game or to brush up on your chess skills.

Finally, if you are a teen in grades 7 through 12 and you are interested in making changes at your Library, give the Teen Library Council a try!  The next meeting is on Sunday, October 20 at 3 pm.
