1. Attention Student Council members, please check your google classroom for an announcement from Mrs. Rowen.

2. Mrs. Aber would like to see the Junior Honor Society Officers at her doorway of Room 104 for a quick minute during CNN news.

3. Reminder to the 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball players: Please turn in your uniform to Mrs Wennes.

4. Boys Basketball Tryouts are Nomember 2nd – November 4th. 7th grade from 2:45pm-4:15pm and 8th grade from 4:15pm-5:45pm. Make sure your physicals are up to date in order to try out.

5. Attention all 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing basketball this
year, please see Mr. James in the gym during CNN news this morning to sign up and get ready for an exciting season!  

There will be open gym for any 7th and 8th grade girl on Friday, October 23rd after school from 3pm-4pm.

6. Are you an artist? Do you like to draw? If you would like to design the yearbook cover, please submit your own drawing to Mr. Maleski or Mrs. Brown by Friday, October 30th. You must put McCormick Jr. High 2020-21 on the cover and put that, along with your own drawing on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch. paper, which is a typical piece of computer paper. Put your name at the bottom of the drawing.

7. Ripcho Studios will be here on Friday, October 30th and Tuesday, November 3rd for picture retakes. If you did not get your picture taken in September, please plan to have it taken. If you are not happy with your pictures, bring them with you on your picture day to have them retaken.

8. Attention all students: Through the month of October, the high school TLC class is collecting NEW hats, scarves, gloves, and socks for people in our community who are in need. Please bring in your items and put them in the box in the front lobby when you enter the building in the morning.

9. Attention McCormick Junior High! On Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th, the McCormick Junior Honor Society is putting together a Halloween costume contest and there will be prizes! Costume categories: Most creative, most all-in, creepiest-scariest, funniest, most pleasing to the eye, best inspired by a TV show or movie, best group/partner, best face covering integration into the costome….. There are a few rules to keep in mind: Costumes must be school appropriate, no weapons, no face paint in mask area, as you are still required to wear the appropriate face covering. Costume judging will happen during Lunch and there will be a treat during lunch as well. We look forward to seeing everyone participate and have a good time!

10. REMINDER TO STUDENTS: Please make sure to remember to bring your masks, Chromebook and charger to school with you every day. Pack your bag before you go to bed and check your bag before you leave for school.

11. LUNCH MENU: today-General Tso Chicken, Thursday-Spaghetti & Meat Sauce, Friday-Bosco Sticks

12. FROM THE HURON PUBLIC LIBRARY:
Need a place to study or wait for a ride after school? The Huron Public Library now has Student Study Tables open from 3-4pm and 4-5pm Monday through Friday. Teens ages 12-18 can reserve their own private table in the Library to read, do homework, or use the WiFi. Visit huronlibrary.org to make a reservation.

Families with children of all ages can join and decorate a pumpkin to look like one of their favorite book characters in the Storybook Character Pumpkin Contest. Create a pumpkin masterpiece and send us a photo or your pumpkin creation by October 30 for a chance to win some prizes! Pumpkin displays can contain more than one pumpkin, but we ask that each family only submit one display. Visit our website to learn how to submit!

Find some time to get creative on TikTok in the Library's monthly TikTok Challenge! Teens in Grades 7-12 can put your TikTok skills to the test for another chance to win some cool prizes. Each month, the Library will provide a new theme for your TikTok videos. October's theme is Halloween. Create your best spooooky 10-60 second clip and send it to us by the end of the month for a chance to win and be featured on our social media pages! Visit huronlibrary.org for full contest rules.
