Announcements - Monday, September 21, 2020

1. Elections for homecoming court will be on Tuesday, 9/22, and Wednesday, 9/23. Students will receive a link for the ballot in their email from FINAL FORMS. Please vote by 4 pm on Wednesday 9/23.

2.  Reminder to students please return technology forms to the high school office.

3.  Any junior or senior interested in becoming a member of Model United Nations please stop by Mr. Schaefer's room 210 during school hours for an informational handout.

4.  We have a few yearbooks from last school year available for sale.  If you would like one the cost is $65.

5.  Attention all artistic students: The Yearbook Club is putting on a cover contest for the 2020-2021 yearbook. This year's theme will be "Living Our Best [covid] Life". The idea behind the theme is that we as a school community are doing everything we can to make the best out of the setbacks and challenges that we have this school year. If interested, please design your interpretation of what it means for the Huron Tigers to be "living our best life" this year. The winning design will appear on the cover of the 2020-2021 yearbook, and the winner will receive a free yearbook. Designs are due to Mrs. Lee by Friday, September 25.

6.  Parking tags are still on sale in the high school office for $5.  You need to purchase a new one each year.

7. Ripcho Studio will be at HHS to photograph underclassmen (grades 9-11) on Thursday, September 24th, for the "red" group.  If you are part of the "gray" group and missed having your picture taken last week, feel free to stop in Thursday by 11am. Extras order forms are available in the high school office.

For those attending Virtual Academy, you may come in also to have your picture taken.  Please be sure to wear a mask in the building.

8. The Huron Public Library is now open to the public!  Teens under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult due to the current safety regulations, but the Library is also working on a plan for after school table reservations for students.  Keep an eye on our website and social media pages for updates.

The Teen Library Council is still meeting via Zoom to discuss ideas to improve the Library and the community for teens.  The next TLC meeting is on Monday, 9/21 at 4pm on Zoom.  New members are welcome to join with a simple application!

Banned Books Week is coming up on September 28.  Traditionally, Banned Books Week is a time when libraries and other places host events that raise awareness about censorship.  What better way to celebrate than to check out a Banned Books Bundle from the library.  Stop by and grab one from the special Banned Books Week kiosk.

Teens in grades 7-12 put your TikTok skills to the test and enter the Teen Monthly TikTok Challenge.  Each month, the Library will provide a new theme for your TikTok videos.  September's theme is pirates (ARGHHH).   Create a unique 10-60 second clip and send it to us by the end of the month for a chance to win prizes and be featured on our social media pages!  Visit huronlibrary.org for more contest rules.

For more information about any of these programs, visit the Library's website at huronlibrary.org or follow the Library on Facebook and Instagram.
