Announcements - Thursday, October 29, 2020

1.  Tuesday, November 3rd at 4pm at Shawnee Elementary there will be a brief meeting for all those interested in cheering for basketball season. Please reach out to Coach Gioffre, if you are unable to attend the meeting.

2.  Attention any senior who did not get their senior pictures taken by Lifetouch: If you would like your headshot to be included in the yearbook, Lifetouch will be in the gym taking free senior portrait headshots Friday, 10/30 from 7am-11am.  

3. The wrestling meetings scheduled for this week have been cancelled.  We'll let you know when they've been rescheduled.

4. Attention students:  Are you creative?  Do you need more art in your life?  Are you looking for more extracurricular and leadership opportunities?  Then join the Art Club!  Art Club is open to all students grades 9-12.  Even if you are active in a sport, you can still join.  We will work around your schedule.  See Ms. Ryan or to join the Google Classroom on the wall outside the Art Room door.

5. This week is Halloween Spirit Week sponsored by Student Council. Today and Friday wear a costume. Participants see Mrs. Sadowski (room 201) for a treat.

6.  Students interested in taking classes on site or online at BG Firelands in the Spring must call and set up an advising appointment at 419-372-0886 before you can register for classes on Nov 6th at 7AM.  You do not need to register for CCP classes taught at HHS-only CCP classes taught online or on the BG Firelands campus.

7.  Volunteer opportunity:  
Saturday, Oct. 31 is the 6th annual Spooktacular 5k. All volunteers will be required to wear masks and duties will be outside, so we ask that they dress for the elements.  Must be available from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the latest.  If interested, please contact Angie Edwards at 419-366-1563 (call or text welcome) or email [email protected]

8.  There is a sign up sheet in the high school office for boys and girls who are interested in bowling this year.  The first day of practice is Monday, November 2nd which will be followed by a parent meeting.

9.  Attention all students: the TLC class will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house. Bring your pop tabs into your fifth period class. The class that brings in the most will win a Halloween treat.

10. Reminder:  The Huron Public Library will be CLOSED for Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.  The building will be open for voting, but no other Library services will be available on this day.

The Huron Public Library has Student Study Tables open from 3-4pm and 4-5pm, Monday through Friday.  Teens ages 12-18 can reserve their own private table in the Library to check out books, do homework, or use the WiFi.  Visit huronlibrary.org or call the Library to make a reservation.

Show us your pumpkin spice latte skateboarding video or cover yourself in leaves to a catchy tune!  Teens in grades 7-12 can put your TikTok skills to the test for another chance to win some cool prizes.  Each month, the Library will provide a new theme for your TikTok videos.   November's theme is All Things Fall.  Create your best 10-60 second clip and send it to us by the end of the month for a chance to win and be featured on our social media pages!  Visit huronlibrary.org for full contest rules.
