HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - TUESDAY, MAY 10, 2016

1.  Mr. Blevins is in the process of putting together his Academic Challenge team for next year.  If you are interested in participating in this program, see him today to get an application.

2.  Starting Friday, May 13, there will be no charging allowed in the cafeteria anymore for this school year. 
3.  The senior girls self defense class will be held tonight from 5:00-7:00 in the wrestling room.  This is a wonderful opportunity for female students heading off to college or workforce to learn some techniques to defend yourself in the event of an emergency.

4.  Powderpuff sign-ups are taking place today and tomorrow during lunch.  T-shirt order forms area available, due with money by the end of the day tomorrow!  Order forms can be turned into Sarah Blevins or the office.  During the Powerpuff game, there will also be a bake sale to help raise money for the library renovation project.  The game takes place Friday, May 20th, and even if you aren't participating we hope you still come out to support!

5.  Seniors are reminded that your "rules & regulations" paper is due into the high school office on
Friday, May 13th.

6.  Attention Students:  Kaman's Art Shoppes are looking for Artists, Photographers, and Cashiers to fill positions at Cedar Point this summer. Please stop by their table during your lunch period today for more information.
7.  Seniors, we need your pictures for the Baccalaureate Video.  If you have any pictures from kindergarten to high school that you would like to be shown, please either share these pictures with Ashleigh Osterling or Tori Fantozzi on social media or give them a hard copy.  Group pictures, baby pictures, funny pictures and memories are all welcome!  You have until May 17th to submit.

8.  New scholarship for Senior girls:  DEMOCRATIC WOMEN OF ERIE COUNTY – Scholarship award of $500 available to a local female resident who demonstrates the principles of the Democratic Party.  An essay and a minimum 3.0 GPA are required.  Stop in the Guidance office for more information and applications.  DEADLINE TO APPLY IS JUNE 3, 2016.

9.  Interested in earning community service hours?  Admiral's Pointe is hosting a Prom for their Seniors on Thursday, May 12th from 6:30-8pm.  They would love for our students to dress up and show up for this special night.  There will be food and entertainment.   Stop into the high school office to sign up for this wonderful opportunity to make the night of a Senior Citizen special!!

10.  Huron Rotary's Interact Club is accepting membership application.  The Interact Club is trying to better the world through community and global projects.  If you are interested in joining, please pick up an application form in the office or contact Grace Moser for more information.  The forms are due back to the office by May 19, 2016.

11.  Attention students and staff who haven't already ordered a 2015-2016 yearbook:  The deadline to order a yearbook is Friday, May 13. Either order one online by visiting jostens.com, or bring a check in to Mrs. Lee, made out to Huron High School, for $65. 

12.  Attention all students: EHOVE Summer School applications are now available in the Guidance Office. Applications are available until classes are full or until June 10th. Please stop in if you are interested!

13.  If you are a student under the age of 18 and are planning on securing a summer job, you will need a work permit.  These are located outside the high school office.  There's a portion to be filled out by your parent, the employer and on the back is where you need a physician's signature stating you are able to perform the job.  The physician's signature is needed only if you DO NOT have a valid physical on file in the high school office already.  Once the form is completed, please drop that off to the high school office.  Usually the work permit (which you will need to sign) will be ready for you that afternoon or the following day.  Please plan accordingly.  Stop in with any questions.

14.  Lunch today is meat & cheese nachos or a Buffalo chicken wrap.
