HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18,  2016

1.  Starting today, anyone interested in getting ready for bowling season, we are starting practice. Cost is $5.00 from 3-5pm each day. Also, Coach Decker will be in the cafeteria at 2:30pm after school today to sign up those interested in bowling this year.

2.
  Attention all cross country runners, there is a mandatory meeting in Mr. Blevins' room today after school.  For those who are finished racing, please bring your washed uniform in a bag labeled with your name to turn in.  The meeting begins at 2:45 p.m.

3. 
There will be a brief meeting for all students planning on traveling to Europe during the summer of 2018 on Wednesday in the Student Union at 6:00pm. Please see Mrs. Arambula or Ms. Ryan if you need any information or are not able to attend.

  Tonight at 6:30pm at McCormick School auditorium there will be a "Meet the Candidates" night.  Local candidates running for office have been invited.

5.  The Teen Library Council at the Huron Public Library will have an after-hours Halloween Party on Saturday, October 22, from 7 pm - midnight. Members are asked to pick up a permission slip before the event. Costumes are mandatory. Everyone is asked to bring candy and a midnight breakfast item to share. Questions? Contact Ms Carol.

6.  A representative from the Army will be here today at 1pm to meet with interested students in the student union. Students are reminded to sign up ahead of time in the Guidance Office.

Huron cheerleaders are sponsoring "Kiss a Senior Goodbye” from 10/20/16 through 10/27/16.  For $1 dollar you can purchase 2 messages during lunch periods. These messages will be delivered on Friday 10/28/16 attached with a handful of chocolate kisses! So send your favorite senior a kiss!

Senior scholarship - BGSU Science and Math Education in ACTION - Incoming freshman considering teaching either secondary science or math OR middle childhood science and math with a minimum 3.0 GPA, recommended minimum ACT of 23 are eligible.  To apply online visit www.bgsu.edu/action  DEADLINE TO APPLY IS JANUARY 15, 2017.

9. Beginning Wednesday, presale tickets for Friday's football game at Clyde will be on sale.  Presale is $5. At the gate, they will be $6.

10.   Seniors - Jostens will be here on Tuesday, October 28th, during lunches, to take any graduation orders for those of you who might have missed them earlier in the month.  If you have any questions, please stop into the high school office.
 
11.  Extra yearbooks from the 15-16 school year are available for a short time in the high school office.  Cost is $65.  Checks can be made out to Huron High School.

12.  Seniors:  The "Elks Student of the Month" applications are available in the Guidance office.  If selected as a student of the month, you will not only be entered into the local scholarship competition but also have your bio in the Sandusky Register and be invited to a scholarship dinner in May.  There are numerous scholarship opportunities available so don't hesitate to apply!
Applications are due by Monday, October 31st.

13.  Attention all students who take plan on taking a College Credit Plus course online or at Firelands this Spring: You must sign up for a 15 minute time slot in Guidance to meet with Sophia Jackson or Amy Planthaber.  Once you have your meeting and credit check, a hold will be removed from your account.  Seniors will meet on with Mrs. Fahr and BG advisors on Friday 10/28 and Juniors and underclassman will meet on Monday 10/31

14.  Lunch today is a cheeseburger.
