2. New scholarships available in Guidance office:
AMERICANISM SCHOLARSHIP – The American Legion Auxiliary is awarding a $500
scholarship to high school seniors of good moral character, have financial
need, and a relative of a military veteran, living or deceased. DEADLINE
MARCH 11, 2016.
FIRELANDS AREA RUNNERS CLUB – Scholarship award of $500 available to one high
school senior female and male runner with a minimum GPA of 2.5. More information and applications are
available in the Guidance office. DEADLINE MARCH 31, 2016.
3. Attention freshmen and upper class men, Jostens will be here to take
class ring orders on Wednesday, February 17th, during lunch periods in
the cafeteria. Please be sure to take advantage of any order day
promotions and discounts. Extra packets are available in the high
school office.
4. There will be a mandatory meeting for anyone interested in playing baseball this season on Thursday, 2/18, at 2:30pm in room 104. See Coach Hohler if you have any questions.
5. Attention all students registering for CCP classes for next year. There
is a change in the assignment of add-on/GPA bumps for CCP courses
beginning in 2016-2017. Any CCP course in English, Math, Science or
Social Studies (including Psych and Sociology) will receive a grade
bump. Other classes outside the core classes will not receive that
bump. Please keep that in mind as you schedule for next year.
6. Signups for the Huron Baseball Softball program will be held at the Huron Eagles on Sunday, February 21 and Sunday, March 6 from 1-4pm. If you are interested in participating, please stop by the high school office for more information.
7. Attention students interested in careers in Science, Technology,
Engineering, the Arts, or Math. Stanford University will once again
select top high school students from around the world to participate in
engaging academic programs designed just for them. Highly motivated,
intellectually curious students have the opportunity to investigate
topics not typically taught in high school. Past students have
described their experience as life changing. There are too many programs
to list, but if you're interested in getting ahead, receiving college
credit, and having a life changing summer experience, see Mr. Blevins for information about the various Stanford programs available.

Any boy or girl that missed the track meeting may pick up a packet in
the high school office or from Coach Lemponen. Return finished forms to
the office.
Track conditioning for those athletes NOT involved in a winter sport begins today right after school. Meet in the cafeteria.
9. Attention all Seniors: Honor cord applications are available in the
Guidance Office NOW! You will need to attach a copy of your unofficial
transcript to each application. All applications are due by Feb. 19th at 2:45pm.
10. Lunch today is pizza or a toasted Italian sub.
