2. The School Counseling department is here again to share with you some more information about Mental Health awareness month. According to a study by Kessler and colleagues, 1 in 5 students struggle or will struggle with a mental illness at some point in their lives. Mental health awareness month is done to help de-stigmatize mental illness, so that people struggling are able to seek out support.

Breathing strategies, you all can try for coping with your own stressors are Figure 8 breathing or square breathing. Check out an example of how to do this on one of the posters hanging your classrooms.

3. Congratulations to the following athletes who placed in the top 3 of their respective events at the SBC track and field championships over the weekend.
Cameron Manner - 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles & 3rd in the 200 meter hurdles
Austin Brunow - 2nd in the 200 meter hurdles
Jake Case - Member of the 2nd place 4x4 relay team
Eliana Cozzie - 3rd in the 100 meter dash and member of the 1st place 4x1 & 4x2 relay teams
Layla Weltle - Member of the 1st place 4x1 and 4x2 relay teams
Samantha Lesnak - 3rd place in both the 1600 meter and 800 meter run
Olivia Kohlmann - 3rd place in the Long Jump
Girls finished 3rd overall and boys finished 5th overall.

4. 8th grade boys interested in playing baseball next year: Today there will be a short meeting during study hall. Please listen for the announcement.

5. 7th grade boys interested in playing football next year: Today there will be a short meeting near the end of the day. Please listen for the announcement.

6. 8th grade girls interested in playing tennis next year: There will be a short meeting near the end of the day Thursday. Please listen for the announcement.

7. State Testing schedule:
Today and tomorrow:   Algebra I 
Students are reminded to bring your CHARGED Chromebook and charger with you to your testing area.

8. Reminder to Geometry students:
Wednesday:   Report to HHS for Geometry test.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS/PHOTOGRAPHERS! Share your art on the Huron Public Library's Online Community Art Gallery on huronlibrary.org. View art and photography shared by your community, then share your own by emailing photos to [email protected]. All ages can participate.  Submissions may be considered for real gallery shows at the Library in the future.

The Library is partnering with the Huron Food Pantry until the end of May. If you have nonperishable food items to donate, drop them off in the box by the main entrance.

Join our weekly Instagram challenges in May for a chance to win some local gift cards. Find the Library on Instagram @huronlibrary. We will post a new photo challenge each Monday, designed by the Teen Library Council.

Catch a classic film streamed from the Library's Facebook page on Thursday, May 13 starting at 5 pm. This Thursday's movie is My Man Godfrey from 1936. A class satire in a class of its own, My Man Godfrey's screwball comedy is as sharp as the social commentary is biting. Chat with others during the film and learn some behind-the-scenes facts.
