Calling all poetry enthusiasts living or working in the 44839 zip code! This year’s 44839: Poetry Contest will kick off in April. Submissions will be accepted until the end of May and select winners have a chance to receive cash prizes and get their poems published in the next volume of the 44839: Poetry from a Zip Code anthology. Find full rules for submission on huronlibrary.org.

This week is National Library Week! Along with special displays and a gift basket drawing, teen and adult patrons can create a bookmark using old catalog cards. Find this craft in the Adult Services section. You can also help your neighbors and lower your late fees during National Library Week with Food for Fines! Fines for an overdue Huron Public Library item will be waived in exchange for each donation (one unexpired or non-perishable food item per overdue item). Exclusions for some overdue items apply.

April is National Poetry Month and to celebrate, the Library is hosting a Poetry Open Mic Night. Read your own poetry or a favorite poem by another poet to share. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required if you'd like to read a poem.

Have you always wished that you could borrow a ukulele?! You're in luck! Visit the Library to check out a ukulele, a puzzle, projectors, and all sorts of unique items in our Library of Things. Find an entire list of this collection on huronlibrary.org.
