Anticipated Vacancy on Huron Board of Education

The Huron Board of Education seeks applicants to fill an anticipated board vacancy. The anticipated vacancy date will be effective January 1, 2018.

The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name a replacement within thirty days of the vacancy. The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2019. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election.

The anticipated vacancy is due to incumbent board member Eric Muehlhasuer not seeking re-election.

“Serving as a school board member presents many opportunities to contribute and improve our community. A school board member must be responsive and receptive to all stakeholders, including parents, students, and staff, as well as the community at-large,” indicated long time school board member Donna Green.

Those interested in serving on the Huron City Schools Board of Education should contact the Office of the Superintendent at 419-433-1234 ext. 5000, for an application.

According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents and registered voters.

“The board will accept letters of interest along with completed applications until 3:00pm Monday November 27th. The board will begin reviewing applications during a work session on December 2nd, "stated Superintendent Dennis Muratori.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the Huron Schools website and review the Districts strategic focus Huron Schools Vision 2020, Quality Profile and 5-year forecast.

Huron City Schools has a budget of over 15 million dollars and serves approximately 1500 students, in four buildings.
