Town-Hall Style Public Engagement Opportunity - March 8
Huron City Schools is placing a 5.9 β mill renewal operating levy on the ballot in May. The issue if approved will become a continuous operating levy. Money generated from the renewal is for day-to-day district expenses, including programming, curriculum related materials, and salary and benefits for employees. Superintendent Dennis Muratori stated, βThe renewal levy, last approved by voters in 2013, will not increase taxes from the amount currently paid.β The operating levy generates about $1.3 million per year.
The Citizens for Huron Schools levy steering committee, along with several school officials, will host a Town Hall style information sharing meeting on Thursday, March 8. The meeting will be held at the Huron Public Library from 7:00 β 8:00pm. School officials will discuss how the money is utilized, state and federal revenue reductions that have occurred over the past several years, and cost containment strategies the district has implemented during the last 5 years.
The meeting is open to anyone and residents are encouraged to bring their questions. Complimentary cookies and refreshments will be served.
