Victory Day returns for a fourth straight year to Kalahari Field at Huron Memorial Stadium. The Huron High School and St. Mary’s Central Catholic varsity football teams , cheerleaders and marching bands are co-hosting a special event for children with severe learning and physical disabilities. Victory Day provides children the opportunity to play football, cheer on the squad or march with the band while their parents, family members and teachers witness the realization of a dream come true for their child or friend.
Participants will be partnered with a Huron High School or St. Mary’s football player or cheerleader who will serve as their mentor for the day. Each child is provided with a full game day experience and given an opportunity to run or catch a pass for a touchdown.
Victory Day, founded in 2010 by Riverview Michigan native Aaron Segedi, is a program designed to build character in future leaders through volunteerism and mentorship.
Several area businesses are sponsoring the event and purchasing medals for all participants. Victory Day will be held at Huron Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 23rd from 2:00-3:30. Although the event is free to the public, the donation of a canned food item is encouraged. All donations will go to the Victory Kitchen Food Pantry.
