Kindness is contagious and students from Huron and Vermilion want to show it. Something unique will happen on Friday February 16 when the Huron Tigers take on the Vermilion Sailors in a SBC Bay division boys basketball game. While they may be fierce rivals on the court, each team including cheer squads and the student sections from both schools plan to unite in honor of Random Acts of Kindness Day.
The idea is the result of a collaborative effort between Huron Schools Student Cabinet and Vermilion High Schools Move to Stand program. They began meeting in December to discuss ways each district can support Random Acts of Kindness Day. After several sessions, the theme Kindness on the Coast evolved and the game seemed like a perfect opportunity to spread the word.
Students also initiated a poster making contest for all elementary and junior high grades. Posters best depicting the acts of kindness theme will earn students a free t-shirt and ticket to the game.
T-shirt order forms are available in the main office of each building or shirts can be purchased directly, at Lucky Stone Promotions.
