HURON HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS - THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 2016

1.  Prom tickets will be on sale all of next week in the cafeteria during lunch.  Tickets will be $25 - this price includes the after prom.  Admission into after prom will be $10 if you are not planning on going to prom.  If you are bringing a guest who is not a Huron student there is paperwork that must be filled out.  There is an emergency medical form as well as a paper that must be signed by their principal.  You must turn this paperwork in at the time of ticket purchase.

2.  A reminder to all National Honor Society members: Our induction is tonight at the McCormick auditorium.  Set-up members should arrive by 6:45; All other members and inductees should arrive before 7:15.  Please see Mrs. Merckens with any questions.

3.  Attention freshmen, sophomore and junior girls....Are you involved in our community?  Would you like the opportunity to represent Huron through your leadership skills and be a positive role model for others while participating in the 2016 Huron River Fest Queens Contest?  A $500 scholarship is available to this year's Queen upon graduation.  Applications are currently being accepted and must be postmarked by June 3, 2016.  For more information regarding participation and an application, please log on to Huronriverfest.com.

  Student Body President and Vice-President applications are available in the high school office until Monday, May 2nd.  All applicants must be a Senior next school year and have served on Student Council for at least one full year.

5.  Interested in earning community service hours?  Admiral's Pointe is hosting a Prom for their Seniors on May 12th from 6:30-8pm.  They would love for our students to dress up and show up for this special night.  There will be food and entertainment.   Stop into the high school office to sign up for this wonderful opportunity to make the night of a Senior Citizen special!!

6.  Attention all SENIORS:  Your Senior Survey is due to the Guidance Office Friday.  Please do not forget to attach the award letter from your college if you want to be recognized for any merit awards or outside scholarships!  Please see Mrs. Fahr if you need a new survey or have any questions.

7.  Huron Rotary's Interact Club is accepting membership application.  The Interact Club is trying to better the world through community and global projects.  If you are interested in joining, please pick up an application form in the office or contact Grace Moser for more information.  The forms are due back to the office by May 19, 2016.

8.  Attention Graduating Seniors:  Label Aid is looking to fill a Rewind/Inspector position at their Huron location on Rye Beach Rd.  If you're looking for full-time employment with benefits stop into the Guidance office for more information.

9.  Attention all students planning on taking a class out at Firelands next year:  It is very important that you print off your BG schedule and turn it in to Mrs. Fahr in the Guidance Office asap.  She will then meet with you to work with your schedule.

10.  Attention all current Seniors who are planning on attending BGSU Firelands next year: There are many scholarships that are available and some that are only for Huron HS students.  The deadline to apply for these is May 1st.  Please visit the BGSU Firelands Financial Aid website to apply!

11.  The 18th Annual Huron Chamber of Commerce Lighthouse Race will be held Saturday,
May 7.  This is a 5K run or walk.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Tanny Vonthron Memorial Scholarship fund.  Registration details can be found on the office window.

12.  Attention students and staff who haven't already ordered a 2015-2016 yearbook:  The deadline to order a yearbook is Friday, May 13. Either order one online by visiting jostens.com, or bring a check in to Mrs. Lee, made out to Huron High School, for $65. 

13.  Attention all students: EHOVE Summer School applications are now available in the Guidance Office. Applications are available until classes are full or until June 10th. Please stop in if you are interested!

14.  If you are a student under the age of 18 and are planning on securing a summer job, you will need a work permit.  These are located outside the high school office.  There's a portion to be filled out by your parent, the employer and on the back is where you need a physician's signature stating you are able to perform the job.  The physician's signature is needed only if you DO NOT have a valid physical on file in the high school office already.  Once the form is completed, please drop that off to the high school office.  Usually the work permit (which you will need to sign) will be ready for you that afternoon or the following day.  Please plan accordingly.  Stop in with any questions.

15.  Lunch today is bosco breadsticks or a hot ham and cheese sandwich.
