HURON HIGH SCHOOL
1. There will be a meeting today for girls interested in trying out for softball. The meeting will take place right after school in the cafeteria.
2. Track sign up will be held during lunches on Thursday in the cafeteria.
3. New scholarships available in the Guidance office:
DELTA LAMBDA CHAPTER EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP – Scholarship grant available to an outstanding high
school graduating senior woman entering a recognized teacher training
institution and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Please stop into the Guidance Office for more information and

THE GRAND LODGE OF FREE & ACCEPTED MASONS OF OHIO – $1,200 scholarship awards available to one
graduating high school female and one graduating high school male. Applicants must submit a one-page essay
about their future college or vocational plans. Stop into the Guidance Office for more information and applications. DEADLINE
MARCH 1, 2016.
4. Attention all juniors in good standing: If you are interested in
state-level government and want to hone your leadership skills, please
see Mrs. Merckens for a Buckeye Boys or Buckeye Girls State
application. The short forms are due back to room 206 by Tuesday, February 9.
5. Auditions for this year's Musical - Cinderella (Broadway Version) - Will be tonight from 6-9 and Tuesday from 3-6. Call backs, if needed, will be on Thursday, February 11, from 3-5 and EVERYONE for Dance Audition on Thursday from 6-9. All auditions are at the high school choir room.
6. Reminder to all students that course recommendation sheets are due
to the Guidance Office this week- Juniors due by end of the day on MondaySophomores due by the end of the day on Tuesday
Freshmen due by the end of the day on Wednesday

7. Attention any senior looking for a valuable summer internship that
will help you make connections, gain valuable technical skills, and
uniquely strengthen your resume.
Discovery Lab
Global is offering experiential learning internships. These part-time
internships require 2-3 hours per week working with a 3D Virtual Reality
Academy from home. The program includes work with
virtual reality, experience with developing wearable technology, and an
aerospace themed CAD design project focused on radical "drone" design
concepts. The program is run by Dr. Rob Williams, the founding director
of a United States Air Force Student Internship program called
Discovery Lab that just ended after a ten year run. For more
information on this program, see Mr. Blevins. Opportunities are all
around you, you just need to take advantage of them!
8. Attention all Seniors: Diploma Lists are posted inside the Guidance
Office. Be sure to stop by and check for you name on the Top 10%,
Honors, and Diploma of Distinction. If there is a problem, please see
Mrs. Fahr. The last day to verify is Thursday, Feb. 11th by 2:45pm.
9. Attention all Seniors: Honor cord applications are available in the
Guidance Office NOW! You will need to attach a copy of your unofficial
transcript to each application. All applications are due by Feb. 19th at 2:45pm.
10. Lunch today is a corn dog or a hot ham & cheese sandwich.
