1. There will be a short meeting in the cafeteria after school today for those interested in participating in track.
2. New scholarships available in Guidance office:
FIRELANDS AREA RUNNERS CLUB – Scholarship award of $500 available to one high
school senior female and male runner with a minimum GPA of 2.5. More information and applications are
available in the Guidance office. DEADLINE MARCH 31, 2016.
HERB GUILD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – A one-year scholarship is available to graduating
high school seniors as well as LCCC or Cuyahoga Community College current
freshman or sophomore students.
Only students with a proposed academic study in forestry, botany,
horticulture, environmental science, agriculture, landscaping, or culinary arts
are eligible. Stop into the
Guidance office for more information and applications. DEADLINE
APRIL 1, 2016.
3. The Huron Public Library is holding a Valentine Chess Tournament this Saturday, February 13 from 9 am - 5 pm. There will be 2 divisions- high school for grades 9 - 12 and middle school for grades 5 - 8. Players must register at huronlibrary.org or by calling
419-433-5009 by Friday.
The cost to play is $1 and lunch will be provided. Additional food will
be available for purchase. Trophies will be awarded for the top three
winning players in each division. For additional information call 419-433-5009.4. Mrs. Fahr will be meeting with all students who took the PSAT today
in the Library at the beginning of 4th period to hand out and go over
results. Please make sure to check in with your 4th period teacher first
and then come to the library.
5. Attention all students registering for CCP classes for next year. There
is a change in the assignment of add-on/GPA bumps for CCP courses
beginning in 2016-2017. Any CCP course in English, Math, Science or
Social Studies (including Psych and Sociology) will receive a grade
bump. Other classes outside the core classes will not receive that
bump. Please keep that in mind as you schedule for next year.
6. A reminder to all Freshmen your course recommendation
sheets are due to the Guidance Office - Please turn them in TODAY!
DO NOT FORGET PARENT SIGNATURES!
7. Attention students interested in careers in Science, Technology,
Engineering, the Arts, or Math. Stanford University will once again
select top high school students from around the world to participate in
engaging academic programs designed just for them. Highly motivated,
intellectually curious students have the opportunity to investigate
topics not typically taught in high school. Past students have
described their experience as life changing. There are too many programs
to list, but if you're interested in getting ahead, receiving college
credit, and having a life changing summer experience, see Mr. Blevins for information about the various Stanford programs available.
8. A reminder to all Seniors, please make sure to verify your diploma in the Guidance Office by the end of the day today and to complete and turn in all cord applications to Mrs. Smith in the Guidance Office by next Friday, Feb. 19th.
9. Attention all Seniors: Honor cord applications are available in the
Guidance Office NOW! You will need to attach a copy of your unofficial
transcript to each application. All applications are due by Feb. 19th at 2:45pm.
10. Attention freshmen and upper class men, Jostens will be here to take class ring orders on Wednesday, February 17th,
during lunch periods in the cafeteria. Please be sure to take advantage
of any order day promotions and discounts. Extra packets are available
in the high school office.
11. Lunch today is a burrito bowl or a hot ham & cheese sandwich.
