Madame Shoffner's Classroom Policies

 

1.  Entrance into the classroom:  Once you enter the classroom, sit quietly in your assigned seat and begin preparation for class. 

2.  Prepare for class:    When class begins, you will be responsible for having the following materials.  Participation points include preparation for class. 

  • Covered French textbook
  • French workbook
  • French notebook or binder for daily note taking
  • Pocket folders to keep hand outs and your French name tag
  • Two writing utensils (ONLY blue or black ink pens and #2 pencils are acceptable)

*French II – IV are strongly urged to purchase a French dictionary and bring it to class.

3.   Assignments:  A proper heading on each assignment submitted is mandatory in order to obtain credit.  (Name, date, French level, period, page number and activity number)   Assignments must be legible. 

*  Your daily classroom notes must be kept in a designated French notebook binder. I will collect these binders intermittently.  Label your notes appropriately with date, unit, lesson and topic.

  4.Late assignments will not be accepted.

5.Gum chewing is not permitted in class.   Food and drinks are not permitted in class.

6.  Off limits to students:  Teacher’s desk, podium and designated teacher areas are restricted areas.  In addition, do not touch fans, shelves, podium and technology equipment, unless approved by Madame Shoffner.


7.  Discipline:  Any classroom disruptions or disrespect to teachers or fellow students will result in disciplinary action being taken in accordance with school policies.

8.  Levez la tete! (Keep your head up!) Sleeping in class is not acceptable behavior   and will not be tolerated.

9.  Grading System  -  *In accordance with the student handbook

10.   The floor is clean surrounding your desk upon your arrival to class and this must be the case when you leave.    Pick up and dispose of all debris around your desk at the end of the class period.

11.  CLASS ABSENCE: 

  • When you are absent, you will have the same amount of days to make up assignments, tests or quizzes as the days you missed.  It is your responsibility to contact me concerning the assignments and due dates.

POINTS  will include homework, quizzes, tests, projects and participation.

 

* Rubrics will be used to assess various verbal and written assignments. 

 

12.  Semester Grade:                       

1st Quarter = 40%

2nd Quarter = 40%

Semester Exam = 20%

Failure to comply with any of the above will result in a loss of credit, detention and/or parent/guardian notification.
