MATH STUDENTS MAY ENTER SEVERAL CONTEST

 

           Huron High School math students may voluntarily participate in the Greater Toledo Council of Teachers of Mathematics (GTCTM) preliminary test given at the high school.   The GTCTM test cost the students $1.00 to enter.  The preliminary test will be given on Feb. 1 and   sign up is in the math classes.

 

           Students scoring in the top 25% on the preliminary GTCTM test earn the right to participate in the finals at Perkins, March 1st.  The testing categories are: Algebra I, Algerbra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.  The GTCTM finals test gives a monetary award for the top scores in each category.  Over 95% of the schools participating have at least one winner and approximately one out of every 15 students who enter win some money.

          

                      Student in Advanced Math, Calculus, and AP Calculus may volunteer to take the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics test.  The test costs the students $3.00 and is a finals only test given on February 23rd at Perkins High School.  Sign up for this test is also in the math classes.

Both contests are offered to encourage interest in mathematics, to provide recognition for outstanding math students, and to stimulate improvement in math programs throughout Ohio.
