Research Experience
•Undergraduate Research Scholar involved in research with ts-mutants
of Streptococcus equi, the causative agent of Strangles (similar to
Strep Throat, but lethal) in horses. Our work aimed ultimately to
produce an improved vaccine for this lethal disease of horses.
•Internship with Case Western Reserve University in the Department
of Pharmacology. Conducted research on the corA Magnesium
transport protein in Salmonella typhimurium. Funding provided by
a grant from the American Heart Association to better understand
the role of ion transport proteins in the development of heart
disease.
