Members

The District is primarily interested in a continuous program of evaluating a student's needs, interests, attitudes, and abilities; and in providing the areas of learning through selective books, instructional aids, technology, and direct experiences which parallel a student's growth. The District education program will stress those values basic to creating a desire and capacity within the student to become an acceptable and worthy member of a society of free individuals."

Board President - Scott Slocum

Scott has been a Board Member since January, 2006. He is the owner of RS Falcon Properties, a real estate investment/property management company. After earning a degree in Secondary Education at Bowling Green State Unversity he spent most of his career in the Human Resources field.

He is a member of the Erie County Chamber of Commerce, Huron Chamber of Commerce, Lake Erie Landlord Association, National Association of Self Employed, BGSU Alumni Association, Salem Alumni Association and St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Scott and his wife Renee have two children, Elizabeth, an 8th grader and Allison, a 6th grader. Both attend the McCormick Middle School.

Vice President - Joy Hillman

Joy became a member of the Board in January, 2006 and has served as Vice president since then.

She has a background in Finance and works closely with school officials on finance issues.

She is a member of the Huron Chamber of Commerce and will serve as President during the coming year.

Joy and her husband Sam have lived in Huron since 2000. They have two boys, a sophomore at the Huron High School and an 8th Grader who attends McCormick School.

Board Member - Donna Green

Donna joined the Board in January, 2006 and is currently serving her first term.

She is an alumni of Huron High School and was also a teacher in the Huron School District for five years.

Donna has Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and a Masters Degree in Human Resources and Family Services from the University of Nebraska.

She has been employed by the Ohio State University for the past 12 years and presently coordinates the Family Nuitrition Program for Erie County.

Donna has two children, both of whom are graduates of Huron High School.

Board Member - John Caporini

John is in his third term on the Board of Education. He has served as President and Vice-President during his three terms. John is a graduate of Huron High School. He has a B.A. Degree from Muskingum College as well as an M.A. from Northwestern University, Evanston.

He returned to Huron in 1973 to work in his family's business, Huron Cement Products Company where he currently serves as President.

John is a member of the Huron Jaycees, Huron Chamber of Commerce, IAB Club, and the Huron Athletic Boosters where he served as President for five years. He is a member of ther Huron Athletic Hall of Fame. And, he is a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church where he has been a youth basketball coach for five years. He also coached football and basketball at McCormick Middle School.

John is married to Jody Boyes Caporini. They have two children Lauren and Jill who are both Huron High School graduates.
