March 9th Regular School Day for Students

Due to the amount of school missed this winter and the number of make up assessments currently in need of completion, the District has decided to cancel their March 9th in-service day.

Huron City Schools Strategic Plan
The Huron City Schools Board of Education is pleased to partner with the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) to facilitate a comprehensive Strategic Planning process. 
March Board Meeting Date Change
The March BOE meeting that was originally scheduled for March 17 will now be held on March 23.

Coffee Connections
Huron Schools is inviting parents and Huron residents to join them for coffee and pastries. District officials will host another round of Coffee Connections Saturday, February 14 at the Huron Berardi’s from 9 -10 . Coffee and pastries will be served. 
Rescheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences
Woodlands and Shawnee's parent-teacher conferences (originally scheduled for February 2) have been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 10, from 4pm to 7pm.

Gifted Update
Over the last eight years, gifted services have primarily been provided for students identified as gifted in grades 3-6 for language arts and mathematics.

Victory Day comes to Kalahari Field at Huron Memorial Stadium. The Huron High School and St. Mary’s Central Catholic varsity football teams, cheerleaders and marching bands are co-hosting a special event for children with severe learning and physical disabilities.  
Federal Court Instructs Ohio Districts to Post Information for Parents Concerning Data Release
A U.S. District Court has ordered that 2013-2014 school year records from the Ohio Department of Education’s Educational Management Information System be turned over to Disability Rights Ohio as part of an ongoing lawsuit.

I would like to take a moment and wish everyone a restful and relaxing summer. As we reach the mid point to summer break, our focus begins to shift toward preparing for the upcoming school year. District support staff, teachers and administrators are hard at work ensuring we are fully prepared for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 20th. 
94.8% Passage of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee
94.8% of Huron 3rd grade students achieved the required benchmark score as outlined by Ohio's Third Grade Reading Guarantee.
